STEFFEN KARL (translated‪)‬ Manchester City Interviews

    • Soccer

When in need of some midfield security in the mid-1990s - to stave off the threat of relegation - former City manager Brian Horton turned to a holding midfielder from Germany. Steffen Karl arrived on a short loan in 1994 from Borussia Dortmund, joining his fellow German Uwe Rosler at Maine Road. The loan wasn't made permanent and so Karl moved on after a handful of games - and one goal, a winner against Southampton at The Dell. In 2020, the Blue Moon Podcast's David Mooney spoke to the former midfielder - his answers in the interview are translated.
