Episode notes

I can't wait for you to hear this one. On paper, one of the most formidable and successful TV executives of today's generation with a CV that makes your jaw drop, and in person, truly charming, humble, warm and funny. I adore that Jane's attitude is very much - just get on with it, and you'll make it work if you really want to. I came away feeling anything is possible, and world domination is within reach of us all! We chat through role models, climbing through the TV ranks, speaking up, taking risks, getting back to work full time after children, facing fears over and over, living regret free and never stopping to learn.

Jane Elaine Lush was the Chair of BAFTA, and a former BBC executive with a career spanning over 35 years.

Jane was for many years a programme maker at the BBC becoming Controller of BBC Daytime responsible for breakthrough shows such as Weakest Link with Anne Robinson. Heading up Entertainment and Comedy, she commissioned a string of hits including Strictly Come Dancing, The Apprentice, Dragons’ Den and Have I Got News For You. Since leaving the BBC, she’s been working in the independent sector. She was the founding Chair of the BBC’s Performing Arts Fund which gave Adele her first musical instrument and Chair of Caring for Kids supporting research at Great Ormond Street Hospital. She’s currently Chair of Friends of BAFTA USA. Jane’s proudest productions are her children and grandchildren.
