Listen Up.

Refocused with Lindsay Guentzel is my weekly podcast that is working to change the narrative around the often misunderstood world of ADHD by bringing listeners the stories of real people, helpful resources, and doctor-reviewed information.

My Story.

When I was diagnosed with ADHD at age 35, it was like receiving a manual for my brain that had been lost in the mail. I immediately wanted to know everything I could, and as I dove further into the emotional symptoms of the disorder, I realized that everything I was treated for over the years always came down to not knowing I had ADHD.

I am slowly seeing how ADHD has made my path tough at times. It explained why college was so incredibly difficult for me. While studying at the University of Minnesota, I was a decent student but didn’t graduate. I still bleed maroon and gold. Go, Gophers!

Not having a college degree was a negative that I carried around with me for a long time. I sometimes felt bad about it, though the crazy thing is that it rarely held me back. It just took me a little longer to get my foot in the door. Despite ADHD setting up so many roadblocks in my life, there’s great power in being able to identify things that were once so indescribable so you can move forward in life.

Putting It All Together.

Of course, it was a no-brainer to use my experience as an award-winning radio journalist and producer to create a weekly podcast that explores the incredibly complex world of ADHD.

One of my goals is to update the story of ADHD by ditching old, outdated assumptions and stigmas to bring listeners information, true stories, and resources so they can explore the often misunderstood world of ADHD. It’s a diverse bunch of humans, a club I joined in January 2021.

Join me as I gain real insight into attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder by talking to the people who know it best — the ones living with it and the mental health providers working with them.

Love from Listeners.
