Winter Health - November 2020

Listen on

Episode notes

This episode of the Penny's Hill Practice Podcast covers the topic of winter health and how to keep healthy now that winter is here.

In this episode, Dr Geoff Hamp and Dr Sam McGinley discuss winter health as well as who is most at risk from the cold weather.

We also discuss influenza, coughs and colds, where to go for essential health advice, what temperature to keep your home at, and give you some really useful advice on where to get support if you need it.

For more information on influenza and pneumonia immunisations have a look at the NHS website links- influenza is here and pneumonia is here.

In the UK, the Government has webpages with really easy accessible information about both Winter Fuel Payments and Cold Weather Payments. There is also a really good leaflet, Keep Warm, Keep Well and we recommend you have a look at this too.

If you need some impartial and independent advice to help you reduce your energy bills as well as making your home warmer and greener, have a look at Simple Energy Advice or you can call them for free on 0800 444 202.

To find your local council, if you are concerned about a relative or elderly neighbour, use the following link.
