Episode notes

This episode of the Penny's Hill Practice Podcast covers the topic of norovirus, or the "winter vomiting bug".

In this episode, Dr Geoff Hamp and Dr Sam McGinley discuss norovirus, one of a group of viruses that are highly contagious and the commonest cause of gastroenteritis in the world with approximately 1 in 5 cases of diarrhoea and vomiting causing gastroentetitis being caused by it.

We also discuss how to try and prevent spreading and catching it, with some really useful and important advice on hand sanitising. Also, we discuss what to do if you do get it, and importantly, when you need to seek medical help.

For parents, please do have a look at the NHS Healthier Together site.

We also recommend you have a listen to some of our other useful and related podcasts on diabetes and sick day rules as well as acute kidney injury so do have a listen to these too, but not until you've listened to this podcast.

If you have any suggestions for topics you would like covered, email  them to [email protected] and put the word "Podcast"  as your subject, or leave us a message at https://anchor.fm/pennyshillpractice/message
