Episode notes

What does it mean to nurture and admonish our children?

In this episode Dr Justin explores the concept of nurture and admonishment and shines some light on the true meaning of admonishment and how it can help us in parenting our children.

The dictionary definition of nurture is to “protect, support, encourage and give time and interest and affection”. Most would agree this is a pretty good description of good parenting if you want to raise a child who thrives.

So what about admonishment?

Most people think admonishment means to criticise or condemn. However, the dictionary definition of admonish is to provide “gentle or friendly reproof” or to provide “counsel or warning against fault and oversight”. This alternate way to look at admonishment is very useful when we apply it to parenting.

In this podcast episode Dr Justin explores the concepts of nurture and admonishment and shines some light on how the true meaning of admonishment can help us in parenting our children.
