Why Should I Care about Devil Shoes?

The 21-year-old rapper, Lil Nas X, makes waves this week with his latest music video where he slides down a CGI stripper pole to hell and simulates sex acts with the devil. Let's say I wouldn't recommend watching it. As of publishing, the video had garnered over 48 million views on Youtube.

As if that weren't controversial enough, at the same time, he partnered with a Bronx-based marketing company to create a limited run of 666 pairs of Satan shoes. They have injected real human blood into the red ink inside the 97 Nike Air Max's air bubble. All of this timed to release during holy week as a slap in the face to Christians worldwide.

He is an openly homosexual artist that gained notoriety for being wildly successful at going viral on social media.

Don't Care

There is no need to care about pagans acting like pagans. Don't buy the hype. I find it interesting how the devil spends most of his time convincing the world that he isn't real, then rides the occasional wave of popularity by employing one of his loyal slaves to promote him. Lil Nas X is certainly not the first to do this. Ozzy Osbourne was decapitating bats with his teeth on stage two decades before the rap artist was born. Guys like Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie were doing similar things in the '90s. My argument is that we needn't be overly surprised when pagans use their false gods to shock and awe. Instead of being shocked on offended at the depravity of a lost soul, we should recognize that the devil is a real enemy and has a real influence on people in this world. Faithful followers of Jesus shouldn't be afraid of demonic power since we know that he is already defeated by the blood of Jesus and the word of our testimony. These headlines represent the last gasps of our defeated foe with a mortal wound. This shouldn't be a great surprise to us.

Care

As of February 2021, Lil Nas X has 5.6 million followers on Twitter, 6.5 million followers on Instagram, 5.2 million subscribers on YouTube, and over 44 million monthly listeners on Spotify." We shouldn't be surprised that Satanists love their master. But we should be surprised at how much cultural impact it will undoubtedly make. The 21-year-old pop star became a household name with his 2019 hit song "Old Town Road." The song spent nineteen weeks atop the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming the longest-running number-one song since the chart debuted in 1958. But I can predict that most children you know will be familiar enough with that song to sing the lyrics back to you, without even hearing the tune. What you probably didn't know is that Lil Nas X "boasted in a tweet, "i literally sing about lean & adultery in old town road. u decided to let your child listen. blame yourself." ("Lean" refers to "an illicit substance made with codeine cough syrup, soda, and hard candy." It is "highly addictive and potentially damaging to the body.")"

In a headline that hasn't aged well, NPR reported on January 5 that "Lil Nas X Says Children Are His Core Audience Right Now, And That's OK." Last year, Sesame street welcomed the pop star to their Youtube channel aimed at grade school children. Youtube has thus far refused to place a restricted status on the sexual content of the recent lap dance on the devil music video, which means that countless youngsters who fell in love with Old Town Road have probably watched the bilge multiple times.

This news comes at the same time that Gallup reports that American church membership has fallen below 50% of the population for the first time since they have measured the statistic, stating, " In 2020, 47% of Americans said they belonged to a church, synagogue or mosque, down from 50% in 2018 and 70% in 1999." It seems that the assault on the youth is having its intended effect.

Satan has always loved destroying the youth. It's the same old strategy employed by Pharoah as he massacred the baby boys of his Hebrew captives. It was used again by the tetrarch Herod when he learned of the promised messiah. Every day, planned parenthood extends the kingdom of hell by dismembering and suctioning the next generation's remains into medical waste bins. But when Satan fails to kill them before they're born, he resorts to massacring their innocence with puppets like Lil Nas X.

I'll close by quoting the very same scripture printed on the satan shoes. Luke 10:18-20– 'And He said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven."'

By putting this scripture reference on the satan shoes, they illustrate their self-deception. But we must be willing to assert our authority over all the power of hell. If we will, overwhelming victory is promised to us in the mighty name of Jesus.

'Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. ' James 4:7

American society cannot continue to endure the multi-front war on its foundation. The effective demonic strategies against our economy, morality, identity, history, politics, and spirituality are exerting a heavy toll on rising generations. The good news is that faithful parents can still train up their children in the fear and the admonition of the Lord. It is there that I choose to place my hope today.
